Exile & Enlightenment

In the stillness of exile, Ram and Sita tread a path away from home, their devotion steady yet vigilant. The golden deer appears like a glimmering promise, drawing their gaze and hinting at the trials to come. Shadows gather around them, whispering doubt and desire, as the forest becomes both sanctuary and crucible. This moment captures the tension between longing and caution, innocence and temptation, reflecting the quiet weight of choices in the midst of uncertainty.

I created this piece as part of my thesis project exploring Indian mythology through contemporary, painterly illustration. This artwork depicts Ram and Sita in exile encountering the golden deer, capturing the tension between devotion and temptation, light and shadow. The project reimagines timeless epics as emotional, immersive moments, blending mythological storytelling with a personal lens of growth, struggle, and inner reflection.
